PC-03 Signature Series Cochise Bass
Giovanni Tranguch (better known as PC-03) has been playing Bad Stain bass guitars for years, and primarily uses his Navajo Series Quartzsite while performin;g live as a touring member for the band Flying Fish.
After starting a new project that required him to play a six string bass, Gio enlisted the help of Bad Stain to create a signature series six string bass for him after he discovered that Bad Stain didn’t manufacture six string bass guitars. Gio’s signature bass has a Cochise Series body made of basswood and has a wide maple neck that is 34 inches long, with a rosewood fretboard that has 24 jumbo frets.
When it came time for Gio to select pickups for his signature Cochise, he wanted the pickups to be humbuckers. Gio was a huge fan of FrankenStain J-Bass
style pickups and asked Bad Stain if it would be possible to turn the FrankenStain pickup into a humbucker, and also slightly adjust the pickup to ring out longer, Bad Staia worked with Gio to create his signature pickup, the Gio-Magnetic Humbucker for Six String Bass.
Bad Stain overwound the coils with extra tight tension, using 42 gauge polyurethane coated copper wire. Gio authorized Bad Stain to use whatever magnets they thought best. FrankenStain pickups are powered with rare Earth Neodymium Magnets, so Bad Stain started testing there first. Eventaully, Bad Stain and Gio chose to use a combination of magnets for the pickup. A large flat Neodymuim magnet sits on the bottom of both coils, with a row of AlNiCo 8 rod magnets inside the north coil and AlNiCo 4 rod magnets inside the south coil. Both coils have a row of large hex head bolt pole peices on each coil. The end result produces a powerful bright tone with a solid punch. The pickups are called the PC-03 Signature Series Gio-Magnetic Humbuckers for 6 string bass.
Gio-Magnetic Humbuckers have a sleek, stylish look, with a thick and heavy, as well as tight and punchy tone. The Gio-Magnetic Bridge Humbucker generates an output of 9,200 ohms, and the neck humbucker produces an output of 6,900 ohms. Gio-Magnetic Humbuckers are exclusive to the PC-03 Signature Series Cochise, and are not available to purchase individually.
The PC-03 Signature Cochise features gold colored revolver style volume control knobs for each pickup, as well as gold colored revolver style tone control knobs for each pickup, helping to give the bass the signature Bad Stain Noize Weapons style.
The PC-03 Signature Series Cochise Bass is a limited edition build, and only four bass guitars will be manufactured.
The headstock features the Bad Stain logo with “PC-03 Signature Series Cochise Bass” located inside the splat of the Bad Stain logo. The back of the headstock has the serial number and Gio Tranguch’s signature. It also has the individual bass number with the total number of bass guitars available in the limited edition build.
The PC-03 Signature Cochise Bass is made in the USA using parts and components made in the USA, UK, Canada, Germany, Russia, Japan, China, Korea and Mexico. The bass has an electric blue burst paint job, with a protective polyurethane gloss finish, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
