Biography:

In 1997, four friends from Buffalo, New York got together to form a band that would have a pop punk style similar to the bands that they idolized, such as Screeching Weasel, The Parasites, Blink 182, and The Queers. The group decided to name their band, The Imports.

The imports gradually started to play live shows, performing at house parties and small venues, slowly developing their stage presence. Eventually, The Imports fanbase grew, and they began to feel comfortable enough to start playing larger venues and popular events in their home state of New York.

In the summer of 1998, The Imports recorded a full length album, and contacted several independent record labels in an attempt to get a record contract. After listening to the bands self produced demo album, Bad Stain Records signed The Imports and released the bands debut self titled full length album in late 1998.

Shortly after releasing their self titled album, The Imports embarked on a three week tour across the U.S. to help promote their new CD. The album received positive reviews from several independent music publications, and sales of the release were very strong, and higher than what had been originally projected.

The Imports continued to play several live shows at various local venues throughout New York, and eventually re-entered the studio to record tracks for a follow up to their highly successful debut album. After completing the recording process, the band sent their new material to various independent record labels, trying to find a label that was more capable of promoting their new album. After their venture proved to be unsuccessful, the band once again turned to Bad Stain Records.

The Imports renewed their contract with Bad Stain Records in late 1999. Bad Stain advertised that The Imports sophomore release would become available in the late fall of 2000, and the band started to schedule a tour to help promote the release. Unfortunately, in the summer of 2000, internal conflicts within the band caused The Imports to break up before their second release hit store shelves.
